HOMELESSNESS IN OUR COMMUNITIES

The Guardian estimates that there are a total of 68,000 women in temporary accommodation, emergency shelters and sleeping on the streets.

Rising rents and stagnant wages, mean many more people are unable to keep up payments on private rental accommodation, and are evicted.

Figures show female street homelessness is rising more quickly than the overall rough sleeping population, with the proportion rising from 12 per cent to 14 per cent in the year to 2017.
